Scan Quality
When images are received, MuscleSound will perform some measurements to ensure the images are valid and provide some feedback on their quality.
This feedback is presented when running a new Assessment in the scan review.
Note that images will be labeled as 'marginal' or even 'marked for deletion' if they do not meet the quality criteria.
Valid Images
Lumify Ultrasound only
- Gain = 50
- Preset = MSK
Scan Quality Measurements (all ultrasound devices)
Left to Right brightness symmetry
You can improve this by |
centering the muscle in the image |
consistent probe contact |
slightly tilting the probe to create uniform brightness |
Inconsistent Fat/Muscle Boundary Depth
Should be consistent for each image for the same muscle side
You can improve this by |
scans are taken from the same location on the muscle |
probe pressure is consistent from scan to scan |
ensuring fat / muscle boundary is continuous |
ensuring fat / muscle boundary is horizontal |
consistent probe contact |
other muscle boundaries are in focus, centered, and bright |
Inconsistent Fat/Muscle Muscle Area
Should be consistent for each image for the same muscle side
You can improve this by |
scans are taken from the same location on the muscle |
probe pressure is consistent from scan to scan |
ensuring fat / muscle boundary is continuous |
ensuring fat / muscle boundary is horizontal |
consistent probe contact |
other muscle boundaries are in focus, centered, and bright |
